Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, on Wednesday said the opposition alliance was formed out of necessity and a sense of responsibility rather than personal affinity among its members.
“We did not unite around love for each other. We united around necessity and responsibility, that is what binds us together,” Gvaramia said.
He said consolidation among opposition groups is important because political struggle requires synergy and coordinated efforts.
“Consolidation is important not because anyone is too tired to talk to individual groups, but because we simply do not have time. We need synergy,” he said.
Gvaramia noted that decisions within the coalition are sometimes difficult but are ultimately reached, adding that so far the alliance has not faced major internal obstacles in decision-making.
He also said cooperation requires frequent meetings and extensive coordination among political figures who previously had little interaction with each other.
“We spend a lot of time together, meeting several times a week and working practically all day. It is not easy, especially for people who, for objective or subjective reasons, rarely interacted before,” he said.
Gvaramia added that creating a “gravitational centre” for a broader public movement is necessary and argued that past political divisions should not prevent efforts to build a better future.
