The Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, has described his meeting with US Deputy National Security Adviser Andrew Baker as “quite interesting”, saying the sides discussed a broad range of issues, with particular focus on improving bilateral ties.

Samkharadze said the sides reviewed a broad range of issues, with particular emphasis on improving and resetting Georgian–US relations.

“We discussed the readiness of the Georgian side regarding the interests we have. We exchanged views on which issues could be leading in restoring these relations,” he said.

The meeting also addressed regional security challenges, including developments in Iran and their potential impact on Georgia and the wider South Caucasus.

Samkharadze noted that the parties held detailed discussions on the development of the Middle Corridor, the Armenia–Azerbaijan normalisation process and threats stemming from occupation.
