The Russian-controlled occupation forces have abducted a Georgian citizen from the Perevi village of western Sachkhere municipality, the Georgian State Security Service said on Monday.

The agency said it had actuated the hotline with the European Union Monitoring Mission over the illegal act.

“International partners and co-chairs of international discussions in Geneva have been  immediately informed about the incident. All existing mechanisms have been activated to ensure the release of the illegally detained individual as soon as possible”, said the GSSS.

It stressed the “responsibility for the destructive actions committed on the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as along the occupation line, rests with the occupying force”.
