Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has warned that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union would lead to the collapse of Europe, citing the financial burden it would impose on the bloc.

“In the end, the conclusion will be that the EU cannot afford this,” Orbán stated, reaffirming Hungary’s opposition to continued financial commitments to Ukraine. He argued that the cost of integrating Ukraine into the EU would be unmanageable and would place an unsustainable strain on member states.

Hungary has consistently voiced resistance to both Ukraine’s EU membership and large-scale financial aid, leading to ongoing tensions with Brussels and other European leaders who support Ukraine’s accession and continued assistance.
