Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said the United States and Iran are close to finalising a peace agreement, with the deal expected to be signed within the next 24 hours.

In a post on social media, Sharif said the parties were closer to an agreement than ever before and that Pakistan was preparing for the electronic signing of the document.

“We are closer to a peace agreement than ever, with its completion expected within the next 24 hours. Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace agreement, which will be followed immediately by technical-level negotiations next week,” Sharif wrote.

“We are confident that this historic peace agreement will lay a strong foundation for durable peace,” the PM added.
