Georgia’s parliament is set to vote on a candidate for the head of the State Security Service during today’s plenary session, according to the parliamentary speaker, Shalva Papuashvili.

Speaking at a bureau meeting on Tuesday, Papuashvili said the government would formally nominate the candidate in parliament earlier in the day. The process will involve several procedural steps before the final vote.

During a break in the plenary sitting, the parliamentary bureau is expected to convene and refer the nomination to the defence and security committee for consideration.
