On February 9, members of the newly formed political party, the Federalists, held their founding congress, according to a statement published on social media.
This marks the second congress for the party, as their initial charter was rejected by the registry due to what they describe as “absurd technical reasons.”
“This time, we are submitting a charter identical to that of Georgian Dream. If it gets rejected again, it will be clear that the motivation is political,” the party’s statement reads.
A total of 325 delegates participated in the congress. Giga Bokeria was elected as the party’s chairman, while Tamar Chergoleishvili was chosen as the head of the party’s Tbilisi branch.
