Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, on Wednesday said he was not listened to during his first official summons to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

Writing on social media, Fischer stressed he was “not a radical” and underlined that Germany continued to remain a friend to Georgia.

The Ambassador noted at the meeting he firmly rejected the “baseless attacks” made against him and placed responsibility for what he called a “new low point” in German-Georgian relations on the Georgian Government and representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

“I rejected in detail the unfounded attacks against me and assigned responsibility for this new low point in Germany–Georgia relations to the Georgian Government and Georgian Dream representatives, whose actions and rhetoric have caused this situation and are blocking the path toward the EU”, he said.

“I was not heard. I am not a radical. Germany remains a friend,” Fischer wrote.
