Fischer vowed to firmly reject what he called “baseless and provocative accusations” against Germany

Germany’s ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, has described his summons to the Foreign Ministry as “a form of diplomatic sanction” and “unusual between friendly states.”

Speaking before entering the ministry on Wednesday, Fischer said it was the first time in Georgia’s history that a German envoy had been formally summoned.

He vowed to firmly reject what he called “baseless and provocative accusations” against Germany and other ambassadors, while also condemning the Georgian government’s current course, which he argued “runs counter to the country’s EU aspirations.”
