No second front will be opened in Georgia, the Georgian Dream government will ensure peace and stability in the country, PM  Irakli Garibashvili stated earlier today, noting that “all genuine achievements for Georgia’s EU integration have been made under the current state leadership.”

“We have very positive expectations despite what is happening in Ukraine – hostilities, tragedy, war. Therefore, we must maintain peace, stability and promote development. No other front will be in Georgia, we will not allow this and we will continue to protect our citizens and our state,” Garibashvili said.

He stated that today is a “historic day” as Georgian FM Ilia Darchiashvili would be handed a questionnaire for the country’s EU membership bid.

“This will be the beginning of a new stage for Georgia’s EU integration. This process requires maximum involvement from all state agencies. I will personally control this process, I will be personally involved in this process. We must deliver the completed questionnaire to Brussels as soon as possible. I would also like to remind our citizens once again that all the progress that has been made in recent years in our relations with the EU is the merit of our government, the ruling party,” Garibashvili said, pointed at the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and the free trade deal, visa-free regime and now an application for membership.

Georgia applied for EU membership in March, shortly after Ukraine did no following the Russian invasion.
