Georgian police seize large drug haul in Tbilisi arrest

Georgian police have arrested a man in Tbilisi on charges of illegally purchasing and storing large and especially large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed.
The suspect, identified only as L.M., born in 1994, was detained by officers from the Main Division for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking under the Central Criminal Police Department during a coordinated operation, the MIA announced on Friday.
A search of the suspect’s residence uncovered a significant quantity of illegal substances, including mephedrone, MDMA, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, dried marijuana, and pregabalin, the body added.
Law enforcement officers also seized packaging materials, adhesive tape, and an electronic scale believed to be used for drug distribution.
If convicted, the suspect faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
