Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of EU Commission have discussed prospects for Georgia’s accelerated integration to the bloc in a recent phone conversation, Zourabichvili has tweeted.

The president says that the Black sea security was also discussed.

“Thankful for VP Borrell’s reiterated support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Zourabichvili tweeted on Tuesday.

Georgia and Moldova applied for EU membership earlier this month,  shortly after war-torn Ukraine did so.

Earlier Georgia had plans to apply for EU membership by 2024. However, the Russia-Ukraine war pushed the three countries to act swiftly.
