Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on Friday said the agreements reached during talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze would create a solid foundation for the further strategic development of relations between the two countries.
Speaking at a joint briefing, Rahmon said Tajikistan highly valued the results of the negotiations, which he described as constructive and conducted in an atmosphere of mutual understanding.
He said the sides discussed cooperation within international organisations, including the United Nations and its specialised agencies, stressing the importance of continuing positive cooperation on international platforms.
Rahmon noted that Tajikistan welcomed ongoing cooperation with Georgia on global agenda issues, particularly in the areas of water resources and climate policy.
He said the two countries also emphasised the need to combine efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change and discussed a range of security-related issues, including responses to existing threats.
"The agreements reached during today's meetings provide a clear prospect for further developing relations between our countries," Rahmon said, expressing confidence that the steps taken during the visit would contribute to strengthening bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
The President added that cooperation between Georgia and Tajikistan was developing positively in various fields and described the current level of relations as encouraging for both sides.
