Road accidents kill 216 in Georgia in first half of 2025

The ministry recorded 2,860 traffic incidents nationwide over the six-month period, leaving 2,816 people injured

At least 216 people, including 14 children, were killed in road accidents in Georgia between January and July this year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed on Wednesday.
The ministry recorded 2,860 traffic incidents nationwide over the six-month period, leaving 2,816 people injured. Among the dead were 79 pedestrians.
Nearly half of all accidents - 1,369 cases - occurred in the capital, Tbilisi, where 50 people lost their lives. The worst-affected region outside the capital was Imereti, with 316 accidents and 45 fatalities.
Pedestrian collisions were more than twice as common as accidents involving motorcycles. Police registered 917 pedestrian collisions, which killed 79 people and injured 819, compared with 454 motorcycle-related accidents, which left eight dead and 427 injured.
