US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has extended congratulations to the Georgian people on Independence Day, emphasizing partnership between the two nations.
In a statement released on 26 May, Rubio highlighted the shared values that have underpinned US-Georgia relations for over three decades.
"For over thirty years, the friendship and partnership between our nations has been built on shared values of democracy, sovereignty, and the pursuit of a better future," Rubio stated. "The Georgian people’s love of and commitment to freedom and independence is inspiring. The United States remains committed to a partnership in line with Georgia’s aspirations for a secure and prosperous future."
Georgia's Independence Day marks the adoption of the Act of Independence on 26 May 1918, establishing the Democratic Republic of Georgia following the Russian Revolution.
