Head of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Irakli Kobakhidze has responded to allegations by the Ukrainian intelligence that Tbilisi is ready to aid Russian smugglers, stating that it was disinformation and that a friendship between Georgian and Ukrainian governments is “unfortunately” one-sided.

He stated today that the allegations were a “logical continuation of the illogical decisions and steps” which have been made by the Ukrainian government towards Georgia over the past several weeks, including the recall of the ambassador.

“This has one and a simple reason. The  people who are in the radical opposition in Georgia are part of the government in Ukraine,” Kobakhidze said.

He stated that “for the sake of the Ukrainian people” the Georgian government is ready to continue the “one-sided friendship.”

Kobakhidze said that the former United National Movement officials, who currently hold high posts in Ukraine, not only trying to spark tension between Georgia and Ukraine, but also posing threats to the Ukrainian security.
