The ruling Georgian Dream party has offered President Salome Zurabishvili to deliver her annual speech in the state legislature on March 15 instead of tomorrow as the latter wished.
The ruling party MPs stated that they did not support the holding of a session tomorrow to listen to the president as ‘it is not urgent, and there is a problem of quorum on the weekend.’
The opposition, however, said that the date for the speech should not have been postponed as Zurabishvili has just returned from France and Brussels.
The opposition said that they were interested in what the president was told abroad over the current developments in Ukraine and Georgia’s EU integration prospects.
The opposition MPs also believe that the ruling party is unhappy by the president’s recent comments over the government reactions to the war in Ukraine and other topics which pushed them to postpone the annual occasion.
Zurabishvili has had several phone calls with his Ukrainian counterpart and has been open to blame Russia and its president over ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.
