Russia is preparing to launch a new large-scale attack against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned, urging citizens to remain highly vigilant and respond promptly to air raid alerts.

Zelenskyy said Russian occupying forces have already completed preparations for a major strike and are waiting for the right moment to begin. He called on Ukrainians across all regions to pay close attention to air raid sirens and to be ready to act quickly.

“In the coming days, we must be extremely alert. Russia has prepared for an attack, a large-scale attack, and is waiting for the moment to launch it. Please pay attention to every air raid siren. All regions must be ready to respond as quickly as possible and to support people,” Zelenskyy said.

On January 16, the Ukrainian President first stated that Russia was preparing new large-scale strikes against Ukraine, citing intelligence reports indicating active preparations for a major assault.

Two days later, on January 18, Zelenskyy appealed to Ukraine’s international partners, stressing that the country needs stronger protection. He emphasised that this primarily concerns additional missiles for air defence systems, which are needed to counter intensified Russian attacks.
