The Investigative Committee of Russia has accused the commander of the Georgian Legion fighting in Ukraine, Mamuka Mamulashvili, of committing war crimes and has plans to file charges against him.
Russia accuses Mamulashvili, who has been fighting in Ukraine since 2014, of violation of war rules ad torture of Rusian soldiers.
The Russian committee chair Alexander Bastrykin has already instructed his employees to investigate the actions committed against the Russian military and to file charges against Mamulashvili.
“Members of the Georgian Legion in the Ukrainian Armed Forces are committing illegal actions against the Russian military. In addition, Mamulashvili has made a number of public statements that he intends to continue torturing and killing of Russian troops,” Bastrykin said.
Russia has made the statement in the wake of Bucha atrocities and Kyiv’s allegations that Russian troops have committed “all types of crimes” in the town.
