Russia is demanding a secret vote at the UN General Assembly, where the issue of the annexation of four regions of Ukraine by Russia is discussed.
The Guardian reports that the Russian government believes that all 193 members of the UN General Assembly should have the opportunity not to publicly state their answer and vote anonymously.
According to the Russian authorities, in the conditions of secret voting, the countries would have made a bolder decision, without “pressure” from the West.
Ukraine and its allies have demanded the UN General Assembly session over the recent so-called referendums on joining Russia in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions.
