Russia may be planning attacks on the critical infrastructure of the west. For this, it has special submarines and spy ships, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said.

He claimed Russia had developed a special naval program aimed at monitoring or attacking critical infrastructure belonging to its adversaries.

“They have a number of submarines and other equipment, spy ships and everything that is specially designed for these purposes,” he said.

Challenging these alleged plans, the official called for the protection of the infrastructure.  “What we can say without a doubt is that Russia has the intent and capability to target critical national infrastructure in the west. We must have the intent and capability to defend against it,” Wallace added.

NATO intelligence reported early in May Russia might attack submarine cables or other infrastructure of Western countries.
