Russia names a goal for “2nd phase” of war after its failure to take control of Kyiv

Russia’s Defense Ministry has named the main goal of the “second phase” of the war in Ukraine, claiming that it is to take control over the Donbas and northern Ukraine.

“This will allow us to create a land corridor to Crimea and another in Transnistria, where the facts of pressure on Russian-speaking citizens are observed, “said Russian Major General Rustam Minekaev.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. 

Hostilities have been in progress since then.
