The Russian interior ministry has added American Senator Lindsey Graham to the database of wanted persons for criminal offenses without specifying a crime.

The chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, on Sunday instructed the investigators to open a criminal case for “Russophobic remarks” of the American senator about the “murder of Russians” on the basis of a video recording on social media.

Graham on Friday met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, with Russian media outlets citing him as saying the “death of Russians was America’s best investment”.

Based on the full, unedited recording obtained from the office of the President of Ukraine, Reuters found that the two phrases uttered by the US senator “Russians are dying” and “we have never spent money so successfully” had no connection with each other.

Graham’s statement about the best way to spend money by the US was about the multi-billion dollar military aid to Ukraine on the backdrop of its ongoing conflict with Russia.
