Imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili claims that the current state government has “a maximum one and a half month time in office, then it will go (to hell).”

Speaking at a trial hearing on one of his cases in Tbilisi City Court today, Saakashvili stated that the ‘opposition should be active for this.’

“After that, a government of national consent should be formed and then free elections should be held in the country,” Saakashvili said.

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has responded that the Georgian Dream government is “supported by the majority of Georgians, while elections are scheduled by 2024.”

Papuashvili advised Saakashvili to “wait until the scheduled date for the polls comes.”

Saakashvili was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1, 2021 after eight years in political exile.
