A young man has died following an incident at Station Square in Tbilisi, authorities have confirmed.

According to eyewitness accounts, the victim was physically confronted by an unidentified individual at the busy transit hub. The circumstances surrounding the altercation remain unclear.

Forensic experts and officers from Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs were deployed to the scene shortly after the incident. Several witnesses have been taken in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

The man’s body has been transferred to the morgue, officials said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said the case is being investigated under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which relates to the intentional infliction of grave bodily harm resulting in death.

No arrests have yet been reported.
