The Speaker of Georgia’s Parliament has approved amendments to the regulations governing media accreditation within the legislature, introducing changes to journalist quotas and procedures for issuing special one-time passes.
According to the Parliament’s press office, the revisions mainly concern the number of accredited parliamentary journalists and the issuance rules for one-time special accreditations.
Under the new rules, the number of filming crews allowed from the Georgian Public Broadcaster and nationwide television channels will increase. Instead of journalists sufficient to form 10 filming crews, accreditation may now be granted for up to 15 crews. The changes take effect upon their official public announcement.
The amendments also clarify the procedure and conditions for issuing one-time special accreditations, which will come into force on 1 January 2026.
Additionally, two new appendices have been added to the regulation. Appendix No. 1 standardises the application form for regular parliamentary journalist accreditation, while Appendix No. 2 establishes a unified form for one-time special accreditation requests.
The updated regulations do not alter the grounds for suspension or early termination of accreditation.
Applications for parliamentary journalist accreditation for the 2026 term will be accepted from 1 to 15 December 2025.
