Salome Samadashvili, a leader of the coalition Strong Georgia, stated that all laws approved by the current government are inherently illegitimate due to the one-party nature of the governing body.

She expressed concerns that the government is making efforts to ultimately eradicate free space in Georgia.

“All laws that they pass are illegitimate by their very nature. This illegitimate body is one-party. We see that in a frenzied manner, they are adopting certain laws to completely destroy free space in Georgia. However, this has no chance of yielding results because the society is firmly indicating that it chooses a free, European future for this country. Therefore, regardless of what they call it—’American law,’ ‘British law,’ or anything else—it doesn’t matter,” Samadashvili asserted.

This statement comes in light of the ruling party’s initiative to implement a “Media Law” intended to establish standards of media objectivity and journalistic ethics.
