Kazakh citizen arrested for attempting to smuggle large quantity of narcotics into Georgia

Georgian law enforcement authorities have arrested a citizen of Kazakhstan on charges of illegally importing and possessing an especially large quantity of narcotic substances, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.

The suspect was detained in the port city of Poti at a customs checkpoint, the body added.

During an inspection of the suspect’s travel bag, police seized an especially large quantity of narcotic substances as evidence.

The crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
