Georgian police have arrested four Ukrainian nationals in a coordinated operation in Tbilisi and Batumi, on suspicion of involvement in organised drug trafficking.

The suspects were operating as a coordinated group and are accused of attempting to distribute particularly large quantities of drugs using the so-called “dead drop” method, in which drugs are hidden in various locations for later collection.

During a search of a temporary residence linked to one of the suspects in Batumi, law enforcement officers seized 1,544 pre-packaged doses of substances intended for sale. The confiscated drugs reportedly included alpha-PVP, clephedrone, methamphetamine, MDMA and marijuana.

Additional searches conducted in Tbilisi - targeting both personal belongings and residential properties - led to the discovery of further large quantities of methadone prepared for distribution, as well as materials used for packaging narcotics.

If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
