Two arrested in western Georgia over large-scale methadone possession, distribution

If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment

The Georgian police have arrested two individuals in western Georgia on suspicion of illegally possessing and facilitating the distribution of a particularly large quantity of drugs.
In an official statement on Wednesday, the ministry said officers from the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department’s Zugdidi district division detained two suspects, identified as F.A. (born 1985) and R.L. (born 1956).
Law enforcement officers seized evidence during personal and vehicle searches, as well as through an investigative experiment. Authorities said a total of 107 packages of the drug methadone, prepared for distribution and classified as an especially large quantity, were recovered from locations indicated by the suspects.
If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
