“Unfortunately, the discussion will not be about Georgia’s accession to the European Union, but rather about the dire and undemocratic situation in our country,” said Sandro Baramidze, a representative of Transparency International Georgia.

According to him, anyone interested will see that representatives from all major political groups in the European Parliament will speak about Georgia.

“We are grateful—whether it’s Rasa Juknevičienė, a long-time friend of Georgia, or any other MEP. I want to emphasize that these are not just members of the European People’s Party. Practically anyone who is interested will see that representatives from all the main political groups will speak about Georgia. Unfortunately, not about its EU accession process, but about the grave, undemocratic conditions in our country,” Baramidze stated.

Today, the European Parliament will hold a debate on Georgia, after which a resolution will be put to a vote concerning the European Commission’s 2023 and 2024 reports on the country.
