The Georgian law enforcement have arrested two men on suspicion of illegally acquiring, carrying and storing firearms and ammunition in capital Tbilisi, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified only as L.K., born in 1990, and G.K., born in 1987, were detained at different times following operational and investigative measures carried out by the Patrol Police Department.

Officers seized illegal firearms and cartridges from the men’s vehicles, which have been taken as evidence. Both were formally charged after their arrest, the MIA press office added.

If convicted, they face up to seven years in prison under Georgia’s criminal code.
