Tbilisi City Court has sentenced brothers David Mikadze and Giorgi Mikadze, along with Giorgi Jokhadze, to life imprisonment for organising the murder of businessman Levan Jangveladze.
The ruling was delivered by Judge Romeo Tkeshelashvili, who found all three defendants fully guilty on the charges brought against them.
Jangveladze was shot dead on 14 March 2025 on Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi. Earlier in the case, Tbilisi City Court sentenced Gela Udzilauri, who was convicted of carrying out the killing, to life imprisonment.
Another defendant, Sandro Tsivtsivadze, was sentenced to eight years in prison. Prosecutors accused him of illegally selling a firearm and providing false information to investigators under Articles 236 and 370 of Georgia’s Criminal Code.
Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office charged the Mikadze brothers in August last year with ordering the contract killing of the businessman. On 12 August, police arrested Giorgi Mikadze, who holds dual Georgian and Canadian citizenship, while David Mikadze, who is believed to be abroad, remains wanted by authorities.
