Protesters gathered outside the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) headquarters on Melikishvili Avenue on Sunday evening, demanding the resignation of the channel’s leadership.
Some demonstrators called for daily airtime to be allocated for public discourse and for broadcasting services to remain accessible in Georgia’s regions without limitations.
The protest at the GPB is part of a broader wave of demonstrations across Georgia, with rallies continuing on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi and in various regions.
The protests were sparked by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s announcement on November 28, stating that the ruling Georgian Dream party would not prioritize discussions on opening EU accession talks or accepting EU budgetary grants until 2028.
Protesters have vowed to continue demonstrations until the government reverses its stance, reflecting widespread frustration with what many perceive as a retreat from Georgia’s European aspirations.
