The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has met the President of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Saqr Ghobash, on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Istanbul.

According to the Parliament of Georgia, both sides noted that cooperation between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates is developing dynamically, with frequent high-level visits contributing to strengthened relations. They highlighted the significance of the UAE President’s visit to Georgia in September last year.

The discussions also covered regional security challenges, including the situation in Iran, with both parties stressing the importance of peace and stability for economic development in the wider region.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral economic and investment ties, as well as expanding parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place during the 152nd IPU Assembly held in Istanbul, Türkiye. The Georgian delegation is led by Papuashvili and includes Nikoloz Samkharadze and Maia Bitadze.
