Georgian and Israeli Parliament Speakers hold bilateral meeting

Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, met with Amir Ohana, Speaker of the Knesset, the Parliament of the State of Israel.

According to the Parliament’s press office, the two speakers discussed the current situation in Israel, the broader Middle East region, and Ukraine.

The meeting emphasized the alignment of values and interests between the governments of Georgia and Israel, as well as issues related to cooperation with the new US administration.

Parliamentary cooperation was noted as progressing positively. Both sides expressed readiness to further strengthen ties between their legislative bodies and agreed to arrange reciprocal visits at various levels of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The meeting also highlighted the historically close and friendly relations between the Georgian and Jewish peoples, which serve as a foundation for strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The discussion took place within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), currently being held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker Papuashvili, includes Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze and Chairwoman of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee Maia Bitadze.
