Speaker Papuashvili discusses parliamentary diplomacy, regional cooperation with AIPA Secretary General

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday met with Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Chem Widhya, during an official engagement in Istanbul.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the sides discussed ongoing international crises and the growing importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for addressing global challenges.

Papuashvili briefed the Secretary General on a planned joint conference to be hosted in Georgia, bringing together members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) and AIPA to discuss international issues. He noted that the event would significantly contribute to interregional dialogue.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.
