US President Donald Trump has said there will be no agreement with Iran unless the country agrees to “unconditional surrender”.

The President’s remarks on his Truth Social platform on Friday appear to reject the prospect of a compromise amid Iranian confirmation of diplomatic mediation to end the conflict.

“There will be no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender. After that, and after selecting a great and acceptable leader (or leaders), we and our many excellent and very brave allies and partners will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction so that it becomes economically bigger, better and stronger than ever before,” Trump wrote.

“Iran will have a great future. Let’s make Iran great again,” he added.

Tensions in the region escalated on February 28, when Israel and the United States carried out major strikes against Iran, during which Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed.

In retaliation, the Iranian army launched attacks on Israel and several countries in the Middle East, targeting American military bases and consulates in the region.

On Thursday, Israel announced it was entering the next phase of its war against Iran, stating that the Israeli military would intensify air strikes on underground facilities where Tehran is believed to store ballistic missiles.

At the same time, Trump has made clear that he wants a complete change of leadership in Iran. According to the US President, he has several candidates in mind who could serve as a “good leader” for the country.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is prepared for a potential ground invasion by US forces. He rejected any negotiations with Washington and stressed that Iran had not requested a ceasefire despite strikes carried out across the country by the United States and Israel.

Earlier today Western media outlets also reported that Russia has been sharing intelligence with Iran about the locations of US military facilities. According to the reports, the information may explain the accuracy of Iranian strikes against American targets, particularly control systems, radar installations and temporary military sites.
