A man who was carrying firearms during a pro-European protest in central Tbilisi on Tuesday has been arrested, the Georgian Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday. 

As a result of joint operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Patrol Police Department and the State Security Service detained M.L., born in 1963, who was moving among the participants of the rally on Rustaveli Avenue with a firearm, the MIA press office said. 

"During the personal search of the detainee, a firearm was seized as evidence. Law enforcement officers also seized various types of firearms and ammunition from the detainee's house”, the press office added. The crime is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
