Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Thursday said Georgia’s difficulties on its path toward European Union membership were rooted in domestic political decisions rather than external factors.

In a post on social media, Sybiha wrote that the Georgian Government “should not take offence at its reflection in the mirror”, emphasising that “all of the reasons for Georgia's poor EU accession results are in Tbilisi, not Kyiv”.

“As for Ukraine, we wish the friendly Georgian people only one thing: to realise their European aspirations eventually - despite their current Government's policies.

“Georgia is Europe, not the "Russian world", he said.
