Holy Synod names three candidates for Georgian patriarch

The Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church has selected three candidates for the position of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, following a meeting at the Patriarchate.
Archpriest Andria Jagmaidze, head of the church’s public relations service, said the candidates are the locum tenens of the patriarchal throne, Shio Mujiri, as well as Eminence Iobi and Grigol.
Jagmaidze said Bishop Shio received 20 votes, while the other two candidates received seven votes each.
He added that other nominees included Grigol Katsia, Dositheos and Melkisedek.
