Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have signed a historic peace agreement between their countries, with US President Donald Trump acting as a mediator.
The signing took place today, August 8, in Washington, where several documents were finalized, the most significant being a bilateral framework agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The 17-point document remains confidential for now, but some details have been made public. It aims to normalize relations between the two countries through mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also fostering economic cooperation.
One of the key elements of the agreement is the creation of a transit route through the Zangezur Corridor. According to media reports, the document also includes provisions for renouncing international claims and banning the deployment of third-country troops along the shared border.
Other previously disclosed points cover border demarcation, prisoner exchanges, and measures to support refugees and internally displaced persons. The agreement is intended to serve as a comprehensive foundation for resolving the long-standing conflict and establishing lasting cooperation between the two nations.
