The United National Movement (UNM) has expressed “full solidarity and support” for members of non-governmental organisations who, according to the party, are facing a new wave of political repression announced today by “Ivanishvili’s puppets.”
In a statement, the opposition party accused the “Russian, criminal, and treacherous regime of Ivanishvili” of continuing “active persecution” against “democratic” and “independent” NGOs, whose representatives were allegedly threatened with criminal prosecution for refusing to comply with the so-called “Russian law” and register as “foreign agents.”
“Ivanishvili’s regime is deliberately steering us away from the European path and is fighting against every party, NGO, free media outlet, and citizen who does not want the establishment of Russian dictatorship in this country and is actively engaged in opposing it,” the statement reads.
“We are certain that very soon, with a united, strong, and democratic front, we will celebrate the victory over Ivanishvili’s regime,” it concludes.
