Head of the Department of Health of the Sumy region of Ukraine, Anatoly Kotliar, says that Russia never takes away the bodies of its killed soldiers which poses serious ecological threats.
“Russia does not need the bodies. They are staying with us which is a serious threat to the local ecology,” he said.
Kotliar stated that it is difficult to identify undocumented killed soldiers.
According to Ukrainian media, 10 refrigerators have been ordered to store the bodies of Russian fighters, but some have not been delivered yet due to the blockade of certain railway lines.
The majority of the bodies are transported to Russia via Belarus, where they are placed in wagons and sent home by rail.
Kyiv says that more than 14,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the latter invaded Ukraine on February 24.
