Support structure collapses at construction site in Gonio, one injured

A structural collapse at a multi-story building under construction in the coastal town of Gonio has left a man in his 30s critically injured. Emergency crews are continuing search and rescue operations at the site.

The support structure of the partially built residential complex gave way earlier today, triggering an emergency response from the Special Situations Management Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital. According to doctors, the man sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

As of this report, no additional injuries or casualties have been confirmed. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether others may have been trapped or affected by the collapse.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 240 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of construction safety regulations.
