Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has stated that 1,117,000 GEL has been collected for Ukraine thanks to the special treasury account opened shortly before.

He also said today that the Ukrainian children, who are currently in Tbilisi, will be able to go to kindergartens in the Georgia capital city free of charge.

“We have already agreed the move with the Tbilisi City Assembly,” Kaladze said.

He has expressed satisfaction that Georgians were active to transfer money to the treasury account in support of Ukraine.

“To help Ukraine, we have opened a special treasury account with the code 300778800. As of today, the amount of the donated money is 1.117 million GEL, which is nice,” Kaladze said.

The Ukrainian embassy says that more than 4,000 Ukrainian citizens are currently in Georgia who have fled hostilities in their country.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
