Zurab Abashidze has been elected as the new Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council following a vote held during today’s council session.

Abashidze received the backing of 26 Assembly members, securing the majority needed to assume the role.

The position became vacant earlier this week when former chairman Giorgi Tkemaladze was appointed Vice Mayor of Tbilisi.
