Tbilisi’s Mayor, Kakha Kaladze, has appointed Giorgi Tkemaladze as the city’s new Vice Mayor, following the departure of Irakli Khmaladze, who has taken up a post at the Ministry of Justice.

Tkemaladze previously served as Chairman of the Tbilisi City Assembly, holding the role for two consecutive terms. The announcement was made during a session of the Tbilisi City Government on Wednesday.

Introducing Tkemaladze, Kaladze praised his longstanding contribution to the capital’s urban development.

“He is one of the outstanding leaders of our team. For years, he has been involved in all the activities connected to the development and reconstruction of the city,” Kaladze said. “His experience and deep understanding of local governance will be crucial as we continue implementing our ambitious projects for Tbilisi.”

Kaladze also expressed gratitude to Khmaladze for his years of service.

“I thank Irakli Khmaladze for his hard work. We have worked together since 2017 -  from municipal management to electoral campaigns,” said Kaladze. “He will now serve as Deputy Minister of Justice, where I’m confident he will continue to excel.”
