Tbilisi police detain suspect on abuse and rape charges

Officers from the Old Tbilisi main police unit have detained a suspect, born in 2007, on charges of violence against a family member, rape, inhuman treatment, threats, and damage to property.

The interior ministry said the investigation found that the suspect had repeatedly used physical and sexual abuse and had issued death threats against a person born in 2005.

As a result of these actions, the victim attempted suicide. No further details were given.

Police detained the suspect following operational measures and investigative actions.

The case is being pursued under multiple articles of the criminal code, which provide for a prison term of up to 13 years.
