A Georgian court has released on bail a man charged over an altercation involving Russian tourists and wedding guests at the Agarani Estate hotel in the eastern Kakheti region.
The Telavi District Court on Tuesday ordered the release of Giorgi Chikhladze after setting bail at 5,000 lari (about $1,840). Judge Tamar Kapanadze partially granted the prosecution's request for a preventive measure, and Chikhladze was released from the courtroom.
The incident occurred on 18 July during a wedding reception at the Agarani Estate hotel near Telavi.
According to accounts that have circulated publicly, Russian-speaking women allegedly insulted wedding guests from a hotel balcony and poured liquid onto them. A wedding guest then went to their room to speak with them, after which a physical altercation broke out.
